My wonderful Daddy will make Pumpkin bread when it starts to get cold and Fall-ish. The house smells wonderful when it is almost done. He always serves the bread piping hot with butter... Yummy! It always feels like Fall once the first Pumpkin bread batch is made. We got some 2 days ago!!! -Shannon L.
ReplyDeleteFavorite memory of fall, hands down, happened on November 5m, 2005. Easy to remember the date because that's the day that I married my best friend and love of 4 years (at that time), Preston. Everything was perfect - the leaves were changing on the whole street in Claremont at the church, the decorations were perfect (coppers and lattes and pomegranates definitely dominated the color scheme) and he made me the happiest woman in the world (until he did it again last January when our son was born). The best part was turning to face the congregation and hearing our pastor present us as husband and wife. It was the beginning of the best journey of my life. :)

I love being able to curl up by the fire with a good book and a cup of tea! I think I live in the wrong climate, though, because I only get to do that about 10 days a year here... Tempted to start a fire now, but it really isn't that cold, is it? Oh well, it was close enough to gorgeous fall weather to make me very happy today! :)
ReplyDeleteThe thing I love most about autumn is the weather it brings, thus allowing us to wear scarfs and big jackets. Autumn time also does this "thing" on the morning where right as you're leaving for work, the weather becomes somewhat windy, and chilly( not too cold but not hot) and also leaves that perfect smell in the air ( yeah, it sounds wierd, but you all know what I'm talking about). Lastly, freshly baked pumpkin rolls. Mmmm...I can smell both autumn time and pumpkin rolls now! -phil mclaughlin
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall memory definitely goes back to when I was a little kid, living in College Station, TX. My parents lived in a big house on a couple of acres that were covered in trees... so that meant that there was plenty of raking to do come October/November. My sister and I loved raking up piles of leaves and then sitting in them. Lack of deciduous growth was definitely one of the most disappointing things about AZ when we moved here :(
ReplyDeleteI still love any fall color I can get, and if anyone wants leaves raked, I'll come do it for you!
Hayrack rides through a corn field with hot chocolate and mini marshmallows. At the end we had a bonfire with hotdogs. The best part is the smell of all this and the clear starry sky.
ReplyDelete*know I miss home!*
One of my favorite things about fall is going to bed in a very cold room and having to kick and wiggle around under the blankets to warm up before I fall into a sound, cozy sleep. I also love bringing out all my cold weather recipes: bread, chili, soup, etc. and being able to cook them without sweating. In addition, I love rain and how good it makes coffee taste. --Mary Giudice
ReplyDeleteFall has absolutely always been my favorite season. It makes me feel ambitious, as if anything is possible.
ReplyDeleteIt's the most perfect weather. Winter and summer are too extreme. Spring gets all the romantics and poets aflutter, but the reality is that spring is very dirty. Mud and dirt from the snowmelt makes everything icky. Fall is clean and crisp.
Fall is the true new year, for most of us. We're conditioned that way from when we are kids going to school. It's the time for making grand plans and for gearing up for the holidays. Its primary holiday, Thanksgiving, has all the family-togetherness of Christmas and replaces crass consumerism with football and food.
Fall is the true season of love. It's when young women dress the nicest without being overly bundled in winter clothes, but it's still cool enough in the evening to have an excuse to sit very close together at the park.
My favorite fall memory is from my child hood. My Grandma lived on a street that was lined with ginko trees. These were really tall and old trees, with LOTS of leaves. Sunday afternoons we would always have coffee at Grandma's. During the fall when the leaves were coming down, we used to cover all the cars with leaves. We have pictures of my Uncle driving away, leaves trailing down the street after, while they fly off his van. Pretty comical! What fun!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about the fall is the Major Leauge baseball playoffs. I love watching the mariners play in the playoffs. I get so excited and super intense. To bad they NEVER make it!
ReplyDeleteSorry I am bitter.
I love Fall! One of my favorite memories is when Tim and I took the kids (along with Uncle Mark) to Oak Glen to go apple picking. It was perfect weather and so much fun to be out in the country picking our own apples. We had "real" apple cider and I'm pretty sure a caramel apple, too...yum!
ReplyDeleteFall is wonderful! I remember....raking leaves with the kids, watching elliot play in the gutter when it rained, drinking hot chocolate (coffee for me), using the crockpot!
ReplyDeletewell I love the Fall clothes! But Fall also constantly reminds me of my family because I see all the pumpkins! And my nickname since birth has been Pumpkin (all 10 kids in our family have a food related nickname, banana, pumpkin, sugar beet, apple pie,... and so on!) Plus one of my favorite colors is orange, and this time of year you get to see a lot of that!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite occurence is happening right now! It is raining outside, and I'm wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. I have a blanket wrapped around me to shield against the wind. Here at PCC I get to sit under the gazebo with a cup of hot chocolate and talk or study with friends as they dash through the rain. I also find it hilarious when it is only drizzling, and people have trench coats, rainboots, and umbrellas to protect themselves :)
ReplyDeleteI love the cool weather and the crisp breeze that autumn brings so I can wear a jacket.lol the colors of the decorations and changing leaves are kinda soothing as well.
ReplyDeleteAlso one of my favorite things about fall is the library booksale! It's always an awesome time! :)
I love EVERYTHING about Fall! It is my favorite time of year! One of my favorite things about Fall is going to the Pumpkin Patch... I look forward to it all year long. It is also my absolute favorite place to take pictures. I love all the orange, corn mazes, pig races, face painting, train rides, pony rides, hay rides... I think you get my point. ;} We are going this weekend... I think we are all finally well enough!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win! I think you already know how much I love your necklaces! =}
Fall is in the air when the new crop of apples appears in the grocery store and soon the apple crisp requests begin. When the boys were young we'd go out and rake the leaves and run and jump in them. Afterwards they would come in for fresh piping apple crisp and hot chocolate. It's hard to find vibrant fall leaves but on my parents' farm in New Jersey they were abundant.
ReplyDeleteWinter. Summer. Spring. Fall.
ReplyDeleteWhen polled, I'm guessing that most people would be able to choose their favorite season. However, I am not one of those people.
My gut instinct is to label Summer as my favorite season- I love being a beach bum, driving down PCH with my toes sticking out the window (obviously I'm the passenger at this point), eating frozen yogurt everyday, having freedom from school- and the list of the pros of summer go on.
But then my indecisiveness kicks in, and I remember how much I love the festivities of Winter, which brings its twinkling Christmas lights, scarves, and hot chocolate.
And Spring! Who doesn't love Spring and its new flowers popping up from the soil? I am so drawn to Springtime because it hosts the most significant holiday of all.
But then October hits...
Every year at this time, I am hit with this gushing feeling that overwhelms me. Everything about fall inspires me- the crisp air, the "changing" colors (in quotations because I am a CA native), the feeling of a fresh start... and the list goes on. When Fall comes around, everything is exciting, orange, fresh, and rejuvenating.
Fall causes me to remember how our God is ever-changing but NEVER-changing. He gives us the privilege to see His power and majesty through His transforming creation, but He is our one constant.
"There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!" - Percy Bysshe Shelley
My favorite thing about fall is that my dearest amazing smart beautiful gorgeous talented bestie/sister/moh gives away free necklaces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteand pumpkin bread, yummy smelling pinecones, fall leaves, rain, soup, the smell of rain, pumpkin bars, chai tea lattes, pumpkin candles, pumpkin candy corns, warm coats, toasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin ice cream and carving pumpkins!
I love fall because it reminds me of growing up in Iowa where in the fall the leaves change to beautiful colors; school starts with football and friends; there are brisk nights with bon-fires made from leaves.....but best of all it I love it because in September I had my first precious baby - Diana
